Introduction to Wire Wrapping

Join Nancy Goodall, award-winning wire wrap artist, to learn the building blocks of wire wrapping, applicable to any project. While this is a "basics" class, your finished product will look anything but basic! You will learn all about different types of wire, a variety of techniques, design applications, suppliers and how to set a flat-backed cabochon. Sterling silver wire and all necessary tools are supplied. 14k gold-filled wire is available for purchase at an additional price if preferred. If you don't supply your own, stones or other cabochons will be available for purchase from the instructor, but are not part of the class fee and range anywhere from $6 up. Many lovely stones are available at this lower cost. Feel free to bring your own tools and your own cabochon (stone, fused glass, etc.) - It should be flat-backed and preferably oval, round or teardrop shape (avoid square or triangle) , and should be at least 25 mm at the longest point up to 40 cm. If in doubt, bring it and we will see if we can work with it!

Learn wire basics from award-winning wire wrap artist Nancy Goodall while completing a sophisticated bead and wire-wrapped bracelet from sterling silver, with a variety of beads from which to choose. No one will ever know this is your first project! Already have experience? Great - we will show you how to refine it and add to your "bag of tricks"! Beads, wire and all tools necessary for this project will be supplied. Have your own beads you would like to showcase? Bring them along and we will see if they can work. Smaller beads work best. If you have your own pliers and would like to use them, bring them as well.
